Firearms20Aboard20and20Piracy20-20SailNet20Community

Firearms20Aboard20and20Piracy20-20SailNet20Community

Apparently this is a pretty “hot button” issue.

Americans are considered “arrogant” by many Europeans - and a good portion of that belief appears to come specifically from the Rights and Freedoms enjoyed by Americans.

In the thread on Sailnet.Com (an excellent resource for Sailors by the way) the question was initially asked about the idea of taking guns on your personal vessel with you while cruising.

For the uninitiated, “Cruising” is traveling from place to place on a boat (usually a sailboat) either you alone, or you and a significant other or even whole families. Iin July of 2007, Robert brings up the question about “hassles” and guns on board.

The very FIRST post in response is from a moderator on the site who says “Leave the Guns at Home”. The Moderator “CruisingDad” states that “For all the hype and movies, Piracy really is few and far between in this hemisphere.”

While this might have been true in July 2006, the news tells us a different story these days. In fact, a quick and dirty google search on piracy in the news today shows there are 19,000 plus stories on piracy in the news. That’s just today.

Around the world today, China has had to deal with pirates and thus have joined the fight against them. Certainly there are many more such attacks according to the news, on merchant vessels than against privately owned yachts, but there are still such attacks against private yachts.

Mainly in the Western Hemisphere, Venezuela appears to have the worst problems. In both September and November two separate men were killed on their private boats. There have been many attacks, including an attack on a French citizen sailing a Lagoon 410 catamaran named Chrysalide, who was killed on September 15th aboard his boat near La Guaraia, Venezuela, close to the capital of Caracas.

In November Kenneth D. Peters, 55 was killed by pirates. He tried to defend himself with a weapon. The details of what happened are sketchy (I can’t find any good details from witnesses at this time) so we don’t know Mr. Peter’s abilities with a weapon or what the pirates were after.

Essentially, if there have been pirate attacks, your best bet is to stay away from that region if you’re traveling there by yacht.

Me… I’ll carry my weapons. And the Europeans and everyone else that calls me “arrogant” can continue to do so. I don’t begrudge them their right to speak their mind, and they ought not begrudge me my right to defend myself against pirates.

Reality Check and TransAsian Axis Podcasts

The Trans-Asian Axis

Well.. haven’t posted here in some time either.

So… updates.

I’m working on preparing the office for a new podcast, same show, same old host (me) - Looks like I am missing show number 8 at the moment. It was on Olav’s machines, and… well, old news we won’t revisit. I’ll look for it on my personal archives though and get that online.

Several new items here.

I’m working with a local talk show host who’s rather well known, his name is “Chuck” - that’s all I’ll say for now, to assist him in getting set up to do a live, real-time streaming internet show. I’m trying to convince him to podcast his daily live radio show for now, and get the streaming going later… but, oh well.

I’ve sent him a couple large messages with information on “how-to” and offered my assistance. He listened to some of my shows and told me they were good, he was impressed. Coming from him, that makes me feel good about what I did.

A few days ago, my wife asked me why I wasn’t doing podcasts any more… since I’ve been busy doing other things I didn’t have time, and just didn’t feel like it. I barely blog these days, except about my boat, and I’ve never even sailed it yet so… this winter is coming on, no boat work, and I guess that I can put together a show a week over the course of the next few months.

Last weekend I rebuilt my laptop, and I’m installing my necessary software, setting up some archives to hold past and future shows so they won’t get lost like number 8 did.

With the new Administration coming in, I’ve decided to get my feet back in the Freedom of Speech Door before someone slams it shut so they will have a harder time shutting down Conservative Talk Radio using the so-called “Fairness Doctrine”.

So, now… my requests.

I’m asking for the Staff here on TAA to give me ideas, format ideas, show ideas, voice overs, whatever. And for the posters here, who’ve not had a chance to be involved…. now is your chance.

I need some people who want to participate and help in creating the programs.

I can do all the work myself, I can do the research, set up the show, do the technical aspects, do the talking, and put it all together at the end… but could use some people that would like to assist.

Voice overs, ads for the site (to help get us some people) - I’d like a nice, deep voice announcer - like a regular talk show has, some music that isn’t copyrighted, a show intro theme song, outro-them song… things like that. Perhaps some graphics for the mp3 podcast “album covers” and so on.

Credits to those who help go into the show information.

Any one interested, contact me here by PM, or send me an email at rickdonaldson [at] earthlink.net (OBVIOUSLY you need to replace the @ symbol in that address!)

Alternatively you can write to “taarealitycheck @ gmail.com” - but I don’t check that as often at present. If I can figure out how to have Thunderbird check it, it’ll be more frequent in the near future.

Three cold and boring months of winter is coming - let’s use it wisely, efficiently and make sure we keep our American Freedoms IN PLACE, not lose them, and not have to fight the impossible to get them back!

Wake up America!

A new administration is about to be in power with promises to raise your taxes, gut the military, missile defense, ignore and even embrace foreign terrorists and terrorist supporting states, remove freedom of speech through stupid “policy changes” to the Federal Communications Commission.

The “Un-Fairness Act” is coming back with a vengence… America needs your help.

The time to fight is NOW - not after it’s all gone.

America in Ashes?

FrontPageMagazine.com | Friday, May 23, 2008

The latest audio message from al-Qaeda, reportedly from Osama bin Laden himself, is only the most recent confirmation that the jihadist threat to the West remains real and deadly serious. But the fact that it could take the form of nuclear terrorism should be most worrying to citizens and policy makers alike.

Folks… the time is coming when this won’t be a joke among some people, it will affect them directly and what will they do? Whine that the “US Government didn’t do enough to stop it” - or worse, “We deserved it, surrender”.

I’ll never surrender or think of terrorism as a joke, and I’ll not put down pen and paper, computer or my weapons until these terrorists are wiped from the face of the Earth.

Free Republic yanking comments!

Latest Articles

A very interesting phenomenon has erupted over on FR today. The site mods are removing any and all comments questioning the newest and most recent “signups”, ALL apparently from China in the aftermath of the 7.8 Earth Quake that hit Sichuan and Chengdu China last Monday.

It is disheartening and even in my opinion ridiculous of the Mods to do this.

Folks are questioning the dozens of new signups who are not asking for help, merely commenting on the problems in China. Yet, we question this sudden in-rush of posters and are having our comments summarily removed.

What has happened to the people at FR? Are they now under control of a bunch of Liberals? Is JimRob no longer in charge?

Stay tuned to see who gets banned next.

Socialism; say Yes or No

Someone on FreeRepublic said, “We don’t have a choice”. I vehemently stand against that statement.

Socialism; say Yes or No
Ladies and Gentlemen….

I beg to differ. America has a choice. While our choice in Presidential candidates has somehow been dictated to us by some lame-brained dumbasses in the various parties, we certainly DO have a CHOICE.

We have a choice as free Americans to NOT take what is handed to us, or shoved down our throats. However, we DO have a system in which we need to work first.

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m going to vote for McCain.

And then I’m going to oppose him every step of the way, and I would urge you all to do the same when it comes to things like raising taxes, leaving our borders open and pulling us out of the rest of the world.

Americans need to understand that WE ARE STILL IN CHARGE OF OUR COUNTRY.

Those leftists who are incrementally attempting to change our children need to be stopped, and they need to be stopped LOUDLY and pointedly.

Some day, this may come to violence with the opposition - and I hope it doesn’t but you should chose your side carefully and thoughtfully and not continue hammering on McCain because you don’t like him.

It’s time to vote for what semblance of conservatism we have LEFT and force the new President to move as far right as we can force him to go.

Don’t give up, don’t give in to all the nay-sayers and don’t be a nay-sayer yourself. Let’s get this in high gear, put a “Republican” (even if he IS a RINO), he isn’t B. Hussein Obama” who is a dyed-in-the-wool SOCIALIST. We’re one step from being “Europeanized” folks!

Do NOT let that happen.

Kick CAIR out of this country.

Tell the ACLU to clam up.

Stop the schools from teaching political correctness.

Put someone in office who MIGHT be a liberal but certainly isn’t a Socialist.

Stop your damned BITCHING and get to work LOCALLY like the rest of us are doing, pushing for conservatives in Congress and other offices.

Stop worrying so much about the President, elect McCain and NOT Obama.

And We DO have a Choice, God BLESS America!

lgf: We Got Mail! - There are still “Dumbasses” who BELIEVE in a conspiracy theory

lgf: We Got Mail!

Apparently there are STILL kooks who believe that the attacks on 9-11-01 was a US Government Conspiracy.

Anyone with a lick of sense already knows this was a conspiracy, but it was a conspiracy carried out by terrorists, and not people in the US Government.

That ANYONE could believe the US Government was in any way involved shows that there is so much ignorance in the world and we continually need to combat this lack-of-intelligence on the part of the general population of the world.

The Truth, as a once-popular (and coming back) TV series “X Files” said, “Is out there”. Unfortunately, those who “believe in the truth” of a government conspiracy are buying into lies, and obfuscation and utterly refusing to see the facts — because they “want to believe”.

It is sad and frustrating that there are still ignorant people like this in the world. Below is the text of the letter sent to LGF.

Sad. Very, very sad.

Come on, tell me why you still believe it was possilbe for hijacked!? airliners to fly all over the eastern U.S. for hours without any meaningful response nor even any pursuit? Come on! (How could Osama bin-Forgotten do that? Or was that the work of Cheney?)

Our trillion-dollar air defenses were allegedly defeated by Osama bin-Forgotten & his 19 lackeys with box-cutters?

American Airlines Flight 77, having a 125’ wingspan disappeared though a16’ foot initial impact hole at the Pentagon. All clear video (at least 80 of them) of what blew-up the Pentagon being withheld to this day?

WTC-7 has small, scattered fires, yet it imploded in a controlled demolition later in the day on 9/11. Larry Silverstein, the over-insured leaseholder, said:

“I remember getting a call from the, er, fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, ‘We’ve had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.’ And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse.”

Etc., etc.

Everyone needs to do his/her own research about September 11, 2001! (A good start is to watch “9/11 Ripple Effect” free on the web.)

Bees Disappearing - Colony Colapse Disorder

No one seems to know what is causing the disappearing bee problem.

Just over a year ago, I reported on this (http://realitycheck.blogsome.com/2007/02/28/honey-bees-dying-us-wide/) and I have heard people say I wasn’t reporting clearly, or was making it up.

Fox News carried a short segment today with a bee keeper from Pennsylvania who stated exactly what I stated many months back, that the bees are indeed dying, no one knows the cause, and we need to find the reason and try to mitigate the problem. Finally he stated that the disorder as they are calling it at this time, will indeed affect food prices in the future.

Here’s how it will affect us.

Bees pollinate many of our food crops, in fact something like 80% of our crops use bees as the source of pollination. While I have heard people say things like “Plants have been being pollinated for a long time before people were here so there is no problem” they fail to realize that a good portion of the crops we grow in the US were introduced here by Europeans more than 400 years ago.

Of course this is only the “European Honeybee” while not native to the US originally is one of several thousand species of bees that live in the US, but they are the bees that produce the honey we use in food (and in my case making mead).

Bees are moved, usually by truck along areas where crops need to be pollinated. Many of those bees are dying, and thus those truckers, and the bee keeper’s livelihoods are being affected. Farmers’ crops are not getting the pollination required to either form seeds or help to bring crops to maturity.

This will increase the cost of food not only locally, but world wide.

With rising fuel prices, we’re in for a serious problem over the next couple of years.

I already predicted a rise in food prices in 2007. Now that is being confirmed. I make mead, which is wine made from honey. The cost of honey is already increasing, but not drastically, yet. I suspect that it will become more and more scarce over the next two or three years. I don’t see us able to easily produce mead without it costing a lot of money in the near future - and with me, working on setting up a business to do just that, I’m having second thoughts about this economy right now and putting so much effort into doing so.

Bees have suffered close to a 33% destruction rate in the past 2-3 years according to the Fox News segment this morning. (I did capture that and will attempt, no promises, to get that put up online soon and link it in this article.)

I’ll update this more as I find more information.

In summary:

1) CCD is NOT a parasite infestation. While there are parasites that kill bees and they do indeed wipe out whole colonies, this is not a yet-known parasite.

2) 33% of the bee population in the United States is ALREADY GONE.

3) There is nothing to show this Disorder is slowing or declining.

4) There is nothing to show that bees are emerging stronger.

5) There is going to be an effect on prices of honey, and crops that depend on bee pollination.

6) Readers who are skeptical are asked to do some research before they “pooh-pooh” this situation, but I welcome comments from people who actually know something about this situation and who are affected directly like beekeepers, meadmakers and those who use honey, or run farms with crops.

Hey folks, here’s something we found a few minutes ago on our site posting about this…..PLEASE EVERYONE READ THIS CAREFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here’s the text of a message one of site admins posted, which includes the quotes. Links follow:

Brigitte Bardot on trial for Muslim slur

PARIS (Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of “inciting racial hatred” over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.

Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was “destroying our country and imposing its acts.”

Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

Well, the French are fried….

When are Euros going to catch a clue? One can only hope, perhaps insist that they wake up? America please, do NOT let this crap happen here.

‘Report on Sept. 6 strike to show Saddam transferred WMDs to Syria’ | Jerusalem Post

‘Report on Sept. 6 strike to show Saddam transferred WMDs to Syria’ | Jerusalem Post

n upcoming joint US-Israel report on the September 6 IAF strike on a Syrian facility will claim that former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein transferred weapons of mass destruction to the country, Channel 2 stated Monday.

Furthermore, according to a report leaked to the TV channel, Syria has arrested 10 intelligence officials following the assassination of Hizbullah terror chief Imad Mughniyeh.

It would seem that all of the Left’s crowing and blowing about “no connection to terrorists” and “Bush lied, there were no weapons of mass destruction” is finally, once and for all going to be answered somehow.

Furthermore, it appears we might finally have some sort of an answer on exactly what was bombed in Syria a few months back, by the Israelis.

There has been speculation, based on the secretiveness of the mission and the closed mouths on all sides of the issue after the air raid on the site in Syria about everything from nuclear weapons, to nuclear reactors, to WMD. Perhaps we will finally know the answer when all of this comes out.

I think we will wait and see the outcome.

Comments are welcomed, please.

The Wobbly Nomad

The Wobbly Nomad

It appears the Wobbly Nomad has managed to get himself noticed. He has threatened people, and made it clear he would like to see “The Gathering of Eagles” kill, murdered or at least just see them dripping in blood.

It also seems that he is aptly named, since he’s apparently on heavy medication, hence “wobbly” and perhaps even a nomad because he’s really a homeless, uneducated Liberal who feels that the world owes him something.

Well, the world doesn’t owe you jack-shit sonny.

You’re the sort of thing that the Military has fought to protect - your so-called “Freedom of Speech”.

Well, sonny, let me give you some facts. With freedom of speech comes responsibility and you’re going to have to, sooner or later, take responsibility for your actions. I personally have “flagged” your pathetic little bog as having objectionable material. I think I will make a few phone calls to some buddies in some of the various agencies around the country so this jerk can see what it’s really like to be “hounded by the Government” for a change….

So that folks can see what this assclown is about, I’ve gone ahead and made sure there’s a link and here’s a little taste of what this asswipe is saying… He’s no more an Iraqi Veteran than I am a Korean War Vet.

Since when did the Wobbly Nomad become such a big hit? I didn’t know radical revolutionary ideas could be so … powerful! I didn’t know that one Iraq Veteran could be so … effective!

So here’s the scoop. Gathering of Eagles is bunch of bullshit, and as far as I am concerned, they all need to either go eat an IED in Iraq, or go drink some dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (agent orange, assholes) and suck it the fuck up for Big Brother.

Michele Malkin is George Bush’s groupie [ideological] slut. She needs to pull her head out of W’s asscrack, and start asking the real HARD questions. Questions like: Why did Chris Hill assault and batter Carlos Arredondo? Like: Who the fuck are you to call me crazy, bitch? I fought in Iraq.

I really really really hope that someday Malkin and her counterpart, Ann “Fucking” Coulter end up laying hog-tied with electrical wire in an Iraqi ditch, looking up at an American-armed death-squad of oppressed and equipped Sunnis who will then procede to show them nice and slow exactly how they came to their viewpoints about the bullshit that is American Fascism.

So ladies and gentlemen, this is the sort of short-sighted, ignorant elitist, scum-sucking, Liberal, American Hating children the Left of this country is raising.

My bet is this is some rich kid who came from a rich family who has bought into the “The world owes me everything” bullshit and now he’s upset with everyone in the world because he got his money cut off.

Or more likely he’s a fat, retard who can’t get out of mama’s basement because he eats too much pizza and plays the “Sims” too much. His real-world reality is a darkened room, with two computers and a high speed connection, while trying to make virtual money in a game that’s just pissing him off because some other fat guy in another basement just jilted him (You know, pretending to be a hot internet chick) and nomad figured it out finally. (Probably the first thing he has gotten right in his life….)

Sad sad sad.

Wobbly Nomad - I dare you to prove you’re an Iraq veteran, you won’t because you can’t. I think you’re “Pizza boy” myself.

UPDATE! Wobbly Nomad is NO MO’. Site is offline now. Clicking on the link to the site gives you this:

The Death of the GOP and the Birth of a New Political Party

The Death of the GOP and the Birth of a New Political Party

I’d advocate the following.

A party of Conservatives who take the GOP BACK - Honestly, America is a “Two Party System” and to drag everyone away from the GOP to form a third, independent party is not going to be easy, nor cheap, and it will be looked at as it has in the past with “Independents”. As a rag-tag organization of “extremists”.

Logically, we should be fighting within the Republican party to bring it back on course, and forcing these idiots who “want to find an ‘electable’ candidate’ or who think one or two things is TOO conservative to leave rather than the rest of us bail out.

In truth, no, there are things I have always disagreed with, within the GOP - and some things, on occasion to me are simply MORE conservative than I truly am myself.

HOWEVER, I HAVE and will CONTINUE to stand by the principles, in action and deed, even if I don’t necessarily agree completely with them. (No, I won’t give examples).

My “loyalty” to this country is without question. And it has rarely been questioned with the GOP since I changed parties many years ago (After I voted for Carter, I realized what a dumb mistake it was - I tried to stand up for him and believe I’d made the right decision, but increasingly he showed me I was stupid for voting for him).

I’m one of the True “Reaganites” that exists. I believed in everything Mr. Reagan stood for - and one of those things was to always stand on Principles in the face of adversity and to continue to show right from wrong, and do those things which are right, and NOT do, nor tolerate those who do WRONG.

In my mind, and in common sense, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and numerous others in the political structure of this country are simply WRONG and trying to do this country WRONG. While they certainly can and do believe in themselves - they refuse to understand that Socialism and Gun Control, and Abortion is NOT RIGHT, they won’t accept those things as wrong.

Until they DO, they need US to show them and fight them politically.

Until the day comes that our society actually falls apart, and we take up arms again as happened in the Civil War for individual’s rights we have to use our system as it works now.

That means fighting WITHIN the system, not with OUT it - and if we create a new party, we are no longer in the “main stream of society” - you become a group that is largely ignored by the media, called names (like fanatic, or Right Wing Kooks) or other things. A group that is seen by the rest of society in the poor light painted by a Leftist media has little chance of succeeding in anything they attempt.

No, while I can see the extreme frustration we’re all feeling (check my Tagline please for whom I believed was the best suited) I can’t completely agree that walking away from the Republican party is the right thing to do.

Instead, while they have tried to “walk away from US”, we need to stand in front of them and redirect the traffic, force those who are NOT Conservative Republicans to come back to the party the way it SHOULD be, not the way the Leftists in America want it to be.

We need to STOP compromising.

STOP working with “the other side”.

Block them at every turn.

Stop playing “Political Correctness Games”.

Tell the truth, and expose the lies.

Fight Socialism at every turn.

We need to fight for America, as a FREE REPUBLIC and we need to continue to be an example for the world… a place where every foreigner seems to want to come. (If America is such a damned bad place as the Left makes it out to be, then why do we actually have so many illegal aliens here again??????)

No, Fellow Freepers… it’s time to take the GOP back from the Left.

I Am NOT A RINO

I Am A RINO
Today is Super Tuesday.

I made my decision on whom I shall vote.

(We have Caucasus here in Colorado tonight at 6)

I’m staying home.

Screw it. Let’s see what the idiots here do with what they’ve got to work with.

It’s too bad Thompson didn’t stay in, because I’d be working to make him President. I don’t think he has a chance in hell even in a write-in campaign (which is being run as we speak by the way).

What I don’t get is how people can foist liberals on us and think because they have an R by their name, we’ll vote for them.

I look at it this way….

I’m 50 years old and I’ve voted in several Presidential races now, and I’ve been ALIVE for ten Presidents now. (Eisenhower through Bush). I had no influence on any of them save Reagan and the first Bush (because I knew them personally). I have little influence in the outcome of this election.

If I stay home on election day, the WORST possible thing can happen, Hillary Clinton will get elected as President.

Right now, I suspect that no matter HOW I vote, she’s going to get elected (because I think that our party has been INVADED by Liberals to destroy us… and they’ve done a good job). So, people want socialism in this country? They want Liberalism? They want this to lead to Communism?

Fine. Let them.

I’m armed. I’ll fight them when the time comes.

The Murders in Colorado and Gun Free Zones around the country

Some things I’d like to comment on for better, or worse in regards to the murders in Colorado on Sunday.

An ARMED citizen carrying a concealed weapon took this piece of crap down. He ended his own life according to the Coroner.

Two things come to mind.

First and foremost, we do not have “Gun Free Zones” in Colorado - with the noted exception of schools, which is a federally mandated idiocy.

Secondly, Ms. Assam doesn’t have to worry her little head about having taken the life of another human being. He effectively ensured his own special place in hell by first killing innocents and then committing suicide, neither of which will be looked up well in the Hereafter.

Speaking of Jeanne Assam… She is, in my book a real, honest, down-to-Earth Heroine from Colorado. Her quick thinking, and behavior that day probably saved an awful lot of people from certain death or permanent maiming - and all for no reason other than the insane actions of an evil, evil person.

Another thing, is this guy was pretty good, it appears to me at play acting his “insanity”. I don’t think there was anything mentally wrong with this murderer other than then he had a “devout hatred of Christians” and somehow believed himself wronged by them. Even on the links I provided for his writings you can see that people attempted to get him to go see a counselor.

This man was also, and I know I’m going to get some static over this, a TERRORIST. Homegrown, American as can be, but A TERRORIST.

He walked INTO not one, but TWO separate Christian mission locations and killed innocent people, bragged about doing it on the internet in between the shootings and then carried with him enough ammunition to kill several hundred people.

He is no better than an Islamic terrorist with a bomb strapped to his chest trying to kill as many Americans, or Westerners as possible. In short, this maggot is a real, honest to God, dyed in the wool, brainwashed Christian hating maggot and deserves his fiery pyre upon which he should burn for eternity.

It is in times like this that I sit and wonder myself about “The Afterlife” and what comes next. I can only hope it’s there, so that my baby daughter who didn’t make it past 6 days old is sitting there being spoiled rotten by her Grandmothers.

And maggots like Murray find a different path to trod on the way to flaming eternal oblivion.

As of this very moment, there are 5,421 News articles that Google can see. Here’s the link: http://news.google.com/nwshp?tab=wn&ncl=1124713530&hl=en&topic=h

I’m betting that there are perhaps 300-400 of them that will include remarks regarding guns.

That brings me to my next and probably last point for this quick article.

Gun control, and “Gun Free Zones” in America are in my estimation a created method by the Leftist, gun-hating, anti-Second Amendment types by which the government and/or the Left can eventually control guns.

It is a way to continue pointing to “all the bad things guns do” when innocent children in schools are murdered.

This country, and we PEOPLE, better wake up and start changing these stupid laws. There should be “NO no-carry” locations, with perhaps the exception of court houses, and maybe police stations — even then, you have to count on the local police to be POLICING those places.

If I can not walk into a Church (in Michigan) or a liquor store (Michigan) with my side arm, and feel that I am safe - then I won’t go to those places. At least here in Colorado I don’t GO to local schools any more, my children are all grown, but their childre DO go to school and I feel for their parents who CAN NOT walk onto school grounds with a weapon.

The imbecilic Left has managed to put our children, college students and those who attend even technical schools, public AND PRIVATE into a clear and present danger.

As of today, I’m beginning a push for “NO GUN FREE ZONES!” I urge each and every one of you to do so as well.

Free Republic Under Attack!!!!? : 502 Proxy Error

50220Proxy20Error

Free Republic site under attack?

This morning the site has been experiencing “502″ proxy errors. I thought it was because I was at work, behind a firewall.

But just before I was booted off the last time I saw a thread about “Jihadists attacking FreeRepublic”.

I read in the thread, through numerous errors that others were experiencing the same issues I was. Thus, I called the Technical Contact phone number located through “WHOIS” for FR and let them know something was up — or rather DOWN about the site.

They didn’t know, and promised to immediately look into the problem.

I’m not sure that it will help if there is a DDOS attack on-going right now. I suspect STRONGLY though that various machines are slamming FR hard this morning. I can get to many other sites, just not FR.

If you can get in there, post a message here. Here’s the error messages I’m seeing when trying to go to the web site.

Remembering September 11th, 2001

Tuesday morning, 11 September 2001, I’d just returned to work from a previous week out in the field with the US Air Force Reserves, training and evaluating people.

I was sitting at my desk drinking a cup of coffee, catching up on the previous week’s emails that I’d not yet answered. Our Security Administrator came through the Security Door in my area, and looked agitated. In fact, he looked down right sick.

“Rick, we need you in Security. A plane just hit a building in New York,” he said.

I looked up from the computer and said, “BullShit…”.

“No, really. It just happened, we all need to meet in the Security Conference room.”

Shocked, and confused, I got up and followed him across the hall to our security and stood there observing our only, at the time, access to the news sources outside. CNN was showing the Twin Towers and smoke was coming out of it. A few seconds later, live, we watched as another plane slammed into the second tower. I was confused.

“Was that a replay?” I asked.

No one answered. Then someone said, “No, there is smoke coming out of one of the buildings already…” and his voice trailed off.

It was the sudden realization that this was not an accident, and those planes had been directed, somehow, into the two buildings that was leaving our entire Security team stunned. A few moments later, the Director of Security appeared, shaken as the rest of us were. He glanced around the room and said…

“What is going to happen next?”

I normally do not interject my opinion at a time like this since I’m not really a “terrorism expert”, but I have been right about many things. This was certainly one of them. For years before 9-11 I’d talked about this very sort of attack, something spectacular, devastating and evil happening. No one listened, or if they did listen, it was only with “half an ear”.

I reached deep and said, “White House, Capitol Building and the Pentagon next…”.

Silence met my words, then the Director of Security said, “What? Why do you think that?”

“Easy… simple. This is a terrorist attack. They’ve hit America’s finacial center. If it were me, I’d hit the head of government, and the head of the military. The Pentagon, the White House and the Capitol Buildings are at risk. I hope someone else is thinking like me.”

About fourty minutes later reports of “an explosion at the Pentagon” started coming through. The rest is history. Three thousand people died that day, including those who just happened to have gotten on those airplanes that day. One plane was forced to the ground by American heros who figured out what was happening and stopped it before even worse things could happen. It is a reasonable guess that the plane that was forced to the ground in Pennslyvia was destined to hit the White House. Or perhaps the Capitol Building. The latter is a very large target from the sky, as Google Earth can show you, whereas the White House is a bit less dramatic.

Even so, some things I talked about with friends and other site posters in the past actually came true and it’s horrible. People will forget what happened that day, children, those of ours who will someday be “in charge” of the future will not have lived through it and will not understand. Some Americans today want us to “get out of Iraq” and claim Iraq had no connection with terrorism.

NeverForget

Shame on those Americans, and if we let our children forget what happened on September 11th, 2001, or who killed them, then shame on us.

Never forget. Never Surrender.

Bird Flu passing from human to human

Humans Spread Bird Flu To Humans in Indonesia
Science Daily ^ | 8/29/2007 | Fred Hutchinson

In the first systematic, statistical analysis of its kind, infectious-disease-modeling experts at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center confirm that the avian influenza A (H5N1) virus in 2006 spread between a small number of people within a family in Indonesia. The findings, by biostatistician Ira M. Longini Jr., Ph.D., and colleagues, will be published inthe journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Co-authors on the paper were biostatisticians M. Elizabeth (Betz) Halloran, M.D., D.Sc., and Yang Yang, Ph.D.; and epidemiologist Jonathan Sugimoto, M.H.S., a pre-doctoral research associate. All are within the Hutchinson Center’s Public Health Sciences Division and Vaccine and Infectious Disease Institute.

The researchers based their findings on a cluster of eight flu cases within an extended family in northern Sumatra. Using a computerized disease-transmission model that took into account the number of infected cases, the number of people potentially exposed, the viral-incubation period and other parameters, the researchers produced the first statistical confirmation of humans contracting the disease from each other rather than from infected birds.

The cluster contained a chain of infection that involved a 10-year-old boy who probably caught the virus from his 37-year-old aunt, who had been exposed to dead poultry and chicken feces, the presumed source of infection. The boy then probably passed the virus to his father. The possibility that the boy infected his father was supported by genetic sequencing data. Other person-to-person transmissions in the cluster are backed up with statistical data. All but one of the flu victims died, and all had had sustained close contact with other ill family members prior to getting sick — a factor considered crucial for transmission of this particular flu strain.

In an attempt to contain the spread of the virus, the local health authorities eventually placed more than 50 surviving relatives and close contacts under voluntary quarantine and all, except for pregnant women and infants, received antiviral medication as a precaution.

“The containment strategy was implemented late in the game, so it could have been just luck that the virus burned out,” Longini said. “It went two generations and then just stopped, but it could have gotten out of control. The world really may have dodged a bullet with that one, and the next time we might not be so lucky,” he said.

Should a strain of avian flu acquire the ability to cause sustained human-to-human transmission, the results could be catastrophic, Longini said. “If not contained, the outbreak could spread worldwide through the global transportation network faster than the appropriate vaccine supply could be made available. That’s why it’s so important to ascertain whether human-to-human transmission is happening as well as the virulence of the strain.” The researchers estimated the secondary-attack rate of the virus in Indonesia — the risk of one infected person passing it to another — to be 29 percent, a level of infectiousness similar to statistical estimates for seasonal influenza A in the United States.

The researchers also aimed their statistical transmission-assessment technology at another large avian-flu cluster in eastern Turkey that in 2006 infected eight people, four of whom died. In this case, the researchers did not find statistical evidence of human-to-human transmission, most likely due to a lack of sufficient data. “There probably was person-to-person spread there as well but we couldn’t get all the information we needed for the analysis,” Yang said.

The methods and software used in this research led to the development of a software application called TranStat, which will allow first responders to enter, store and perform real-time analysis of data from infectious-disease outbreaks. This tool soon will be available online free of charge via MIDAS, the Models of Infectious Disease Agent Study, which is supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

“We know the key to preventing a pandemic is early detection, containment and mitigation with antiviral therapy and this tool will enable those on the front lines, such as physicians, epidemiologists and other public-health officials, to carry that out efficiently,” Halloran said. “The manuals on how to collect the necessary data are decades old. They are very outdated and incomplete. Often people on the front lines don’t know what to do; they don’t collect the correct data to assess whether transmission is occurring. TranStat will prompt people to gather precisely the data that needs to be collected to better understand and contain any infectious-disease spread, not just the avian flu,” Sugimoto said.

If a smoldering disease cluster does flame out of control, the software also could be used to estimate the important characteristics of the virus — such as its transmissibility, secondary-attack rate and reproductive number — which would give public-health officials a better chance at slowing its spread until a vaccine or other effective control measures could be implemented.

Yang and colleagues recently described the basis for the statistical methods used in the research in The Annals of Applied Statistics.

The study was funded and supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences MIDAS network and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Longini and Halloran also are professors of biostatistics and Sugimoto is a pre-doctoral student in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Washington.

lgf: Two Arrested with Explosives Near Charleston

lgf: Two Arrested with Explosives Near Charleston

Far be it for me to predict anything bad happening. That just isn’t me. I’m more of a preparedness guy for those things that happen that no one can predict. But in the last few days, there have been some strange and disturbing signs of “things to come”.

13 July 2007 - A counterterrorism expert goes public with this remark: “I predict, based primarily on information that is floating in Europe and the Middle East, that an event is imminent and around the corner here in the United States. It could happen as soon as tomorrow, or it could happen in the next few months. Ninety days at the most,” said Mr. Aviv.

29 July 2007 - Several “Hazmat” incidents in the DC area, College Park, Greenbelt, Naylor Rd, Anacostia, and Takoma Park. Dead birds were found at those locations as well. A black truck was observed to be common to all stations prior to the HAZMAT event for those locations. According to news reports it was a “mistake” by a contractor.

4 Aug 2007 - Authorities closed a highway outside Charleston for more than five hours Saturday night after police found explosives in the trunk of a car, a newspaper reported, citing an FBI agent. The vehicle with Florida tags was driven by two men of Middle Eastern descent.

Authories in Goose Creek - Berkeley County police pulled over a vehicle in a routine traffic stop near Meyers Road and Highway 176 around 6 p.m.Saturday. The vehicle with Florida tags was driven by two men of Middle Eastern descent. Some type of explosives were found in the trunk. Those explosives were detonated after three o’clock this morning.
Two men were arrested, and charges of possession of unlawful explosives are being prepared. Officials are not at this time releasing any additional information on the number of charges or types of explosive devices they found.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070805/ap_on_re_us/highway_closed

I don’t know about you folks, but I smell an East Coast thing happening, and soon. Explosives being found, middle eastern men in cars carrying them, ‘accidents’ (read: TESTING) happening, and multiple, many, many attempts to pass materials that APPEAR suspicious into checked luggage on airplanes in recent weeks.

Amazingly the AP article above mentions NOTHING about “Middle Eastern Men”. Little Green Footballs made the connection somehow, and as of yet, I’ve got no backup data on it.

But, something is up. Something is going to happen, and soon. I don’t know what yet, but are you prepared?
