Apparently this is a pretty “hot button” issue.

Americans are considered “arrogant” by many Europeans - and a good portion of that belief appears to come specifically from the Rights and Freedoms enjoyed by Americans.

In the thread on Sailnet.Com (an excellent resource for Sailors by the way) the question was initially asked about the idea of taking guns on your personal vessel with you while cruising.

For the uninitiated, “Cruising” is traveling from place to place on a boat (usually a sailboat) either you alone, or you and a significant other or even whole families. Iin July of 2007, Robert brings up the question about “hassles” and guns on board.

The very FIRST post in response is from a moderator on the site who says “Leave the Guns at Home”. The Moderator “CruisingDad” states that “For all the hype and movies, Piracy really is few and far between in this hemisphere.”

While this might have been true in July 2006, the news tells us a different story these days. In fact, a quick and dirty google search on piracy in the news today shows there are 19,000 plus stories on piracy in the news. That’s just today.

Around the world today, China has had to deal with pirates and thus have joined the fight against them. Certainly there are many more such attacks according to the news, on merchant vessels than against privately owned yachts, but there are still such attacks against private yachts.

Mainly in the Western Hemisphere, Venezuela appears to have the worst problems. In both September and November two separate men were killed on their private boats. There have been many attacks, including an attack on a French citizen sailing a Lagoon 410 catamaran named Chrysalide, who was killed on September 15th aboard his boat near La Guaraia, Venezuela, close to the capital of Caracas.

In November Kenneth D. Peters, 55 was killed by pirates. He tried to defend himself with a weapon. The details of what happened are sketchy (I can’t find any good details from witnesses at this time) so we don’t know Mr. Peter’s abilities with a weapon or what the pirates were after.

Essentially, if there have been pirate attacks, your best bet is to stay away from that region if you’re traveling there by yacht.

Me… I’ll carry my weapons. And the Europeans and everyone else that calls me “arrogant” can continue to do so. I don’t begrudge them their right to speak their mind, and they ought not begrudge me my right to defend myself against pirates.

Well.. haven’t posted here in some time either.

So… updates.

I’m working on preparing the office for a new podcast, same show, same old host (me) - Looks like I am missing show number 8 at the moment. It was on Olav’s machines, and… well, old news we won’t revisit. I’ll look for it on my personal archives though and get that online.

Several new items here.

I’m working with a local talk show host who’s rather well known, his name is “Chuck” - that’s all I’ll say for now, to assist him in getting set up to do a live, real-time streaming internet show. I’m trying to convince him to podcast his daily live radio show for now, and get the streaming going later… but, oh well.

I’ve sent him a couple large messages with information on “how-to” and offered my assistance. He listened to some of my shows and told me they were good, he was impressed. Coming from him, that makes me feel good about what I did.

A few days ago, my wife asked me why I wasn’t doing podcasts any more… since I’ve been busy doing other things I didn’t have time, and just didn’t feel like it. I barely blog these days, except about my boat, and I’ve never even sailed it yet so… this winter is coming on, no boat work, and I guess that I can put together a show a week over the course of the next few months.

Last weekend I rebuilt my laptop, and I’m installing my necessary software, setting up some archives to hold past and future shows so they won’t get lost like number 8 did.

With the new Administration coming in, I’ve decided to get my feet back in the Freedom of Speech Door before someone slams it shut so they will have a harder time shutting down Conservative Talk Radio using the so-called “Fairness Doctrine”.

So, now… my requests.

I’m asking for the Staff here on TAA to give me ideas, format ideas, show ideas, voice overs, whatever. And for the posters here, who’ve not had a chance to be involved…. now is your chance.

I need some people who want to participate and help in creating the programs.

I can do all the work myself, I can do the research, set up the show, do the technical aspects, do the talking, and put it all together at the end… but could use some people that would like to assist.

Voice overs, ads for the site (to help get us some people) - I’d like a nice, deep voice announcer - like a regular talk show has, some music that isn’t copyrighted, a show intro theme song, outro-them song… things like that. Perhaps some graphics for the mp3 podcast “album covers” and so on.

Credits to those who help go into the show information.

A new administration is about to be in power with promises to raise your taxes, gut the military, missile defense, ignore and even embrace foreign terrorists and terrorist supporting states, remove freedom of speech through stupid “policy changes” to the Federal Communications Commission.

The “Un-Fairness Act” is coming back with a vengence… America needs your help.

Ubuntu: Skype VOIP and Ham radio notes

I used to have Skype set up on my systems so that folks could call and leave me a voice message for the podcasts. I never really got much in the way of feedback via voice, only email. So, at some point I simply stopped using Skype. It still shows up on the main page with a button to leave me a voice mail, but I rarely if ever have the Skype turned on.

Right now, I’ve just rebuilt my machines into Ubuntu (lap top is running the desktop version and my desktop machine is running a server version) - and in doing some research I discovered some interesting, if not shocking things about Skype and Voice over IP (VOIP) in general.

At this link we discover there are some interesting aspects about Skype of which I was not previously aware. For instance, apparently there has been some cooperation with the country of China on censorship - something that “free” people should shun at all times. In digging through the documentation, I came across the link for SkypeEthics and a couple of articles about it, one from The Register and another from FT.com giving information that Skype, Ebay and even Google are helping China censor communications out of that country.

I have no love whatever for the Chinese Government. I spent a month over there seeing how they lived, and how the government treated it’s people. China is not a Saint when it comes to commercial espionage, and espionage against the United States - which is my home and I’m proud of that fact. I also know for a fact, based on open source information that China PLANS to be at war with our country in the next decade. This is backed up by their own Generals and white papers they’ve written stating they need to be in charge of the Pacific Rim, and their main competition is the US.

Given that the Chinese keep their people in the dark, and refuse to allow freedoms we have in this country it is simple amazing that Google, Skype and eBay would kowtow to Beijing and assist them in censoring the Chinese people - preventing good human rights.

Therefore, it is with that in mind that I will no longer use Skype for a communications VOIP program, and will remove it shortly from my web pages forever (or until they wake the hell up). In the mean time I will evaluate several other programs that can run under Linux and can use data encryption to determine which is better. Personally I don’t think anyone should be listening to my voice mail, email or any other communication I make - however, I make exception to Amateur Radio, since it is specifically forbidden in our regulations to use any sort of encryption of data or voice. I find that too, to be a bit “heavy handed” of our own government to forbid encryption. But, having worked with voice and data encryption for the better part of two decades now, I do understand the reasoning of the NSA to prevent it.

On the other (third?) hand, I believe that Americans have an innate right to privacy and unless they are doing something illegal, no one has a right to dig into our daily, private conversations with our loved ones, business professionals and certainly not to just “listen in to see if we’re behaving appropriately”. NO one has that right. NO one should be able to decide if I am “behaving appropriately” except me. Especially not the Government. They are there to protect my rights, not negate them.

On the subject of free VOIP software for Ubuntu (and other Linux distros) there are several listed on the Ubuntu documentation pages, there are three:

There are several alternative software based VoIP phones, that are ‘free libre open’, use ‘open’ protocols, and are included in the Ubuntu repositories. Among others, there are:

* Ekiga
* Twinkle
* Wengophone

Off the cuff, and with a quick scan of the pages, I’d say that the first one, Ekiga, appears to be the most “compatible” with most VOIP services and apparently can communicate with other software systems of VOIP. It comes “standard” on Ubuntu installs, and it can run under an MS Windows environment. Ekiga is also compatible with Netmeeting (H.323, windows), Windows Messenger as well as some other packages.

Twinkle is a Linux-only application and according to the site:

On the third application, it appears to be of French origin, and I’m sort of ambivalent about that aspect of a piece of software. I don’t really like the French much, and when I have visited that country, I’ve encountered nothing but rude, snotty people who seem to dislike Americans. While I remained polite to them all, they were rude to me. So, I just won’t use any of their products and I won’t ever visit the country again nor spend money there. They can keep their snotty attitude - and I’ll keep mine :)

Skype has many things going for it. Among the various software-based VoIP apps (which thereby excludes hardware-based offerings like Vonage from consideration), Skype probably works the best in terms of computer-to-computer, computer-to-land line, and computer-to-cell based calling. It’s easy to set up and use, and it works on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux boxes. Skype also provides more than just VoIP, with IM and file transfer also available. I’ve used it quite a bit, and overall, I’ve been happy with its sound quality, as have many other people, given that the program has been downloaded more than 100 million times. It has more than 52 million registered users (among those 2 million paying customers), and well over 3 million people are online and using the program right now, as I’m typing this column.

But that doesn’t mean that Skype is perfect. Far from it. Skype claims that it uses strong encryption to protect phone calls, IM messages, and file transfers:

“Skype uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), also known as Rijndael, which is used by U.S. Government organizations to protect sensitive, information. Skype uses 256-bit encryption, which has a total of 1.1 x 1077 possible keys, in order to actively encrypt the data in each Skype call or instant message. Skype uses 1024 bit RSA to negotiate symmetric AES keys. User public keys are certified by the Skype server at login using 1536 or 2048-bit RSA certificates.”

Here’s the problem with that statement: since Skype is an insistently closed source program - and one that additionally uses a proprietary protocol, but I’ll get to that in a moment - we have no way of verifying Skype’s security. We simply have to take them at their word that their encryption works. For such an important program, that’s quite a problem. I’m just not sure how safe I feel when Skype says, “Trust me - everything’s going to be fine.”

One other thing about Skype that bugs me is that it apparently can, and does, use YOUR machine to assist in directing and assisting other stations with VOIP out side of your personal direction and control on your own machine. What this means is, your personally paid-for-out-of-pocket expenses on your ISP are being used without your permission. Check this link for more information on this situation.

All of this said, I rarely use any VOIP communications other than some ham radio applications, specifically EchoLink, which I might mention later on in another post. But, for the most part, when I was doing podcasts and looking for some feedback, I rarely got much. I suppose that my podcasts aren’t that great (I don’t think they are all that great) but at the same time I’ve had a lot of feedback about them via email. That tells me that most people just aren’t into the VOIP thing yet, and those that are most likely are Geekier than me (which I seriously doubt).

A very interesting phenomenon has erupted over on FR today. The site mods are removing any and all comments questioning the newest and most recent “signups”, ALL apparently from China in the aftermath of the 7.8 Earth Quake that hit Sichuan and Chengdu China last Monday.

It is disheartening and even in my opinion ridiculous of the Mods to do this.

Folks are questioning the dozens of new signups who are not asking for help, merely commenting on the problems in China. Yet, we question this sudden in-rush of posters and are having our comments summarily removed.

What has happened to the people at FR? Are they now under control of a bunch of Liberals? Is JimRob no longer in charge?

Someone on FreeRepublic said, “We don’t have a choice”. I vehemently stand against that statement.

I beg to differ. America has a choice. While our choice in Presidential candidates has somehow been dictated to us by some lame-brained dumbasses in the various parties, we certainly DO have a CHOICE.

We have a choice as free Americans to NOT take what is handed to us, or shoved down our throats. However, we DO have a system in which we need to work first.

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m going to vote for McCain.

And then I’m going to oppose him every step of the way, and I would urge you all to do the same when it comes to things like raising taxes, leaving our borders open and pulling us out of the rest of the world.

Americans need to understand that WE ARE STILL IN CHARGE OF OUR COUNTRY.

Those leftists who are incrementally attempting to change our children need to be stopped, and they need to be stopped LOUDLY and pointedly.

Some day, this may come to violence with the opposition - and I hope it doesn’t but you should chose your side carefully and thoughtfully and not continue hammering on McCain because you don’t like him.

It’s time to vote for what semblance of conservatism we have LEFT and force the new President to move as far right as we can force him to go.

Don’t give up, don’t give in to all the nay-sayers and don’t be a nay-sayer yourself. Let’s get this in high gear, put a “Republican” (even if he IS a RINO), he isn’t B. Hussein Obama” who is a dyed-in-the-wool SOCIALIST. We’re one step from being “Europeanized” folks!

Do NOT let that happen.

Kick CAIR out of this country.

Tell the ACLU to clam up.

Stop the schools from teaching political correctness.

Put someone in office who MIGHT be a liberal but certainly isn’t a Socialist.

Stop your damned BITCHING and get to work LOCALLY like the rest of us are doing, pushing for conservatives in Congress and other offices.

Happy Beltane!

As opposed to the Socialist Party in America and other parts of the world, May Day, or as it was originally known, Mayday - the first of May denotes not “solidarity” with the Communists of the world but rather an ancient practice of ringing in the Spring time.

In the ancient world, Beltane (spelled in several different ways) was considered “the first of Spring time” and was planting season, and ’twas the new day for new life to come to the world.

Many years ago our Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) fighting group took on the persona of various Irish and Scottish fighting persons from ancient times. We worked out our histories (of the assumed-persona) so that we might “live in the time of those who went before us” and we fought on the field of battle in armor against various and sundry foes. During all of this we learned much of the history of the real Irish and Scottish ancestors of our families. We also learned, and spent time living in the woods of Virginia and Pennsylvania to practice these “rites”.

Now, of course we had our real lives, our work and families (most of our families were part of this so as to participate in the battles and see first-hand how medieval persons might have lived). Over the course of twenty-five years, some of us today still practice some of the “rituals” that we learned of to this day. I think the learned public might call us “Neopagans” - though most of us are Christian in faith.

In truth, we are all conservatives but, we do harken back to the days of yesteryear where a Spring Festival was a time of renewal, planting time and at night to break open a bottle of mead and to drink of the Nectar of the gods… thus have these practices brought my wife and I around to the skill of making honey wine, or mead.

Today - this evening for us, will be both a day of celebration for Spring and a sad day in the passing of another part of our lives. Three of our grandchildren will leave the state and move on to another state today with their mother, our son’s ex-wife and her new husband. Between them they have seven children from both families and one more on the way.

For them this move perhaps will be a good one and all my wife and I can do is hope and pray that our grandchildren will again return to visit us some day or that we may visit them in their new home in the future. So, tonight we visit with the children for the last time before they leave and we will, with the rest of our remaining children and grandchildren celebrate the coming of a new Spring and planting season… and what the hell, open a bottle of mead and raise it to the heavens in thanks for another year on this planet.

PARIS (Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of “inciting racial hatred” over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.

Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was “destroying our country and imposing its acts.”

Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

Well, the French are fried….

There are two misconceptions held by many Americans. The first is that communism ceased to be a threat when the Soviet Union imploded. The second is that the New Left of the Sixties collapsed and disappeared as well. “The Sixties are dead,” wrote columnist George Will (”Slamming the Doors,” Newsweek, Mar. 25, 1991)

Because the New Left lacked cohesion it fell apart as a political movement. However, its revolutionaries reorganized themselves into a multitude of single issue groups. Thus we now have for example, radical feminists, black extremists, anti-war ‘peace’ activists, animal rights groups, radical environmentalists, and ‘gay’ rights groups. All of these groups pursue their piece of the radical agenda through a complex network of organizations such as the Gay Straight Lesbian Educators Network (GSLEN), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), People for the American Way, United for Peace and Justice, Planned Parenthood, Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), and Code Pink for Peace.

I highly recommend this piece as the unmasking of Marxism in America takes place. Over my half century on this planet I’ve watched as both a child and now as an adult as we have been inundated by these methods of “political correctness”.

In the past few years as a blogger, and writer on the Anomalies Network, and more recently as a writer and administrator on the Trans Asian Axis web site I’ve found myself at a sort of “loss for words” in describing what I’ve seen as a “Maxism creep” in America. I’ve used terms like “Leftists” and “Socialists” to variously describe many of these people who push this agenda on us and have been shot at (not literally) by other writers for “painting with a broad brush”.

Now, today I feel vindicated in my Broad-Brushing of these people.

I am an American. I do not need to be “tolerate” of other idealism. I do not need to “try to understand” others, nor how they feel.

Arrogant? Somewhat, but Right. Correct.

Political Correctness is an affront to clear thinking, and it is a crime. Why? Because I have my own Rights, my personal First Amendment rights are not different from someone else’s because I am a White male, who makes x-dollars a year, or because I carry a gun, nor because I stand up for Conservative beliefs.

In fact, friends, relatives and enemies - I DEFY any of you to tell me that I am WRONG because your beliefs are different than mine.

No, Americans, it’s time to stand up and fight this pervasive hatred of Capitalism, and fight against those things that try to internally destroy the United States of America.

I would implore each and every reader here to visit the above article and read it yourselves. For once, someone has put it all into one place, so that we might each understand this pervasive, hateful attempt at the destruction of the United States of America.

Barack Obama is embracing anti-gun policies in the run-up to a Democratic presidential debate scheduled on the one-year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.

“I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama told the Pittsburgh Tribune. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”

Well, finally we see how Obama is stepping up to the plate and telling us what he thinks about guns.

He is telling us that those of us who have concealed carry permits are just as dangerous as anyone with an “illegal weapon”.

The truth is, there is nothing “illegal” about a gun, rifle or other device. The carrying of said weapons by law abiding citizens is a Right we all have. Even to some extent “would be” criminals. Those who are planning on committing a crime are not yet criminals - and they have as much right to carry a weapon as anyone else. Until they commit that crime.

Then they become criminals.

This is a very strong distinction from “Anyone with a gun is suspect”, something the left is attempting to impose on Americans far and wide.

Obama would ban handguns throughout the country if he could, and would sign such legislation if presented to him as President.

It’s about time for Americans to stand up and say “ENOUGH!”

Wake up, America… do NOT put this man, or his Democrat Rival, Hillary Clinton into office.

In two recent columns, I spelled out the two primary opposing agendas prevalent in modern American politics, The American Pursuit of Democratic Socialism and To Be Conservative in America.

If I could get every American to read just three columns, it would be these two and the one you are reading now. Armed with the reality displayed in these three columns, the only people who can effect real worthwhile change in America would be more likely to do so.

Without knowledge of at least these fundamental facts, the American electorate is on a path to self-destruction via democratic process, American freedom and individual liberty is at its eleventh hour and the pace into a socialist abyss is quickening.

Why American Freedom is in its Eleventh Hour

A well-known self-destructive cycle of democratic behavior has been attributed to an eighteenth century historian by the name of Alexander Tytler. Whether Tytler is the original author or not, the concept of democratic self-destruction has been proven accurate, right here in America.

“From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”

The cycle identifies eight stages of a process which demonstrates exactly how history tends to repeat itself. America finds itself in the seventh stage as it heads into the 2008 election, where it will decide whether or not to leap headlong into stage eight. Here’s how it happened and what the 2008 election is really all about.

From Bondage To Spiritual Faith, To Great Courage, To Liberty

America’s founding fathers were all men of great spiritual faith who had escaped political and religious bondage in Europe. It was that faith that drove them and gave them the courage to seek a new land of freedom and individual liberty, where they could design and build a nation where all men were created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, chief among them the right to Life itself, individual Liberty and the right to individually define and pursue (earn) Happiness.

The Founders designed and established a limited government which was to be of, by and for the people, the governed, and they established that “to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it…”

From Liberty To Abundance And Abundance To Complacency

It was individual freedom and liberty that gave every American the right and the motivation to create the most productive, prosperous and abundant nation ever known to man. And it is the earned abundance that would lead the wealthiest nation on earth into a state of complacency.

America is not only the most productive and abundant nation on earth. It is also the most generous nation on earth. For more than two centuries, Americans have not only been willing to share their wealth with many less fortunate societies around the globe, but also our technologies, the very philosophies that made us abundant, and even our blood, so that other peoples all over the world could share in freedom, independence and prosperity.

Extended periods of peace and prosperity have resulted in American complacency and today, generations who no longer understand the foundations of our abundance, what it took to achieve it and what it takes to conserve or preserve it for future generations, are on the verge of losing it all.

From Abundance To Complacency And Complacency To Apathy

Apathy, “an absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement; - lack of interest in or concern for things that others find moving or exciting.”

American abundance and complacency led to apathy years ago, when half of all American voters stopped taking the time to engage in self-governance at all, not even finding so much as an hour of their time once every four years to go to a voting booth and play a part in deciding the direction of their free nation.

The other half of America who does still engage and vote, are caught up in an insane debate over Democrat vs. Republican, Liberal vs. Conservative, Black vs. White and Poor vs. Rich. The real issue goes largely unnoticed.

While the political discussion is misdirected and limited to a laundry list of special interest issues, the real debate over Individual Rights vs. Communal Rights is silenced as “hate speech” or “greed” in the name of “political correctness.”

And as half of the nation is complacent in their mindless debate, the other half completely apathetic to the entire process, America votes itself into Democratic Socialism and from apathy into dependence.

From Apathy To Dependence

A short one hundred years ago, when our nation was building the infrastructure of the greatest nation on earth, our federal government and its budget was but a mere insignificant fraction of our gross productivity and nobody was dependent upon the federal government for their personal well-being. Every man, woman and child, was free to define and pursue (earn) their own destiny and no American looked to the federal government as their personal nanny.

One hundred years later, a complacent people turned apathetic towards self-governance has forgotten to remain forever vigilant in its conservation and preservation of the fundamental belief structure that made it all possible.

Today, an increasing number of Americans are now dependent upon the federal government and the federal trough for their happiness. Every national election is about what our federal government can do for us personally, not what we are able to do for ourselves as a result of individual freedom and liberty in the land of equal promise.

Increasingly ill-suited to navigate the individual choices inherent with freedom, a growing number of Americans have come to rely (depend) upon politicians and their government to solve personal challenges they no longer feel capable of solving themselves.

Socialized medicine is being sold as “universal health care.” Government control of the people’s private natural resources is being sold as “environmentalism.” The government confiscation of private earned assets, land, money and individual rights, tyranny for benefit of a greater common good, are being sold as a forced form of “communal generosity” and “community obligation.” The constant attack on “Capitalism” is sold as reigning in “evil corporations.”

This is what Hillary Clinton means when she says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Or “We are going to take some things away from you, for the greater good.” It is what all modern liberals mean in their quest to replace individual freedom and liberty with government controlled equality.

Of course, it’s also what Karl Marx meant when he said “From each according to his ability; To each according to his need.”

From Dependence Back Into Bondage

The final stage of the cycle is the fall back into bandage. Thomas Jefferson provided the perfect warning with this statement, “A government big enough to give you anything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”

According to the IRS as of 2005, 70 percent of all taxes and thereby 70 percent of the American budget, is paid for by only 10 percent of Americans, those evil bastards we call “the rich.” Likewise, the bottom 50 percent of income earners now pay little or no taxes at all. Many of them get tax refunds on taxes they never paid to begin with. “From each according to his ability; To each according to his need.” Remember?

We accept this as a “graduated tax scale” whereby the “haves” are responsible for paying the tax burden of the “have-nots.” It is nothing more than an acceptable level and method of socialism, social engineering and forceful taking of earned assets from one, for benefit of another deemed more deserving. A re-distribution of wealth; - a taking from one according to his ability; given to another on the basis of his need.

Americans are Voting for Bondage via Democratic Socialism

A small segment of the American populace is knowingly pursuing an American democratic form of socialism. But a much larger segment of American voters are unwittingly voting for democratic socialism, to forever increase the size, scope and reach of the federal government in the name of some greater common good, without realizing that what Jefferson and many other Founders warned was true. “A government big enough to give you anything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”

From Freedom Back Into Bondage

The 2008 election is all about this decision. Today’s Democrat Party calls itself “the party of the working man” (aka the working class, the proletariat). But it makes policy promises as the Party of the non-working man, forever promising equal economic status for those who refuse or fail to pursue (earn) happiness on their own. This is the promise that all of their electoral support is based upon. Every Democrat voter seeks to vote themselves (or their neighbor) favors from the federal trough.

Every modern democrat voter seeks to take the rightful earnings of others by force, to serve their idea of a greater common good.

And by this method, they are voting not only those whom they seek to rob of their earnings back into bondage, but themselves as well.

The politicians they ask to define and provide equal happiness to all do not make these campaign promises on behalf of the greater common good of their voters. They make these promises for the greater good of their own political power. This has been true of all who have ever made these promises throughout history.

Our Founders Knew This Reality. But Too Many Americans Do Not.

United upon founding principles, we have stood as the world’s beacon of individual freedom and liberty for more than 230 years. But divided as we are today, the nation is collapsing. Though we are at war with many international enemies who do indeed seek to bring an end to America as we know it, no threat is greater than the threat posed from within, American against American.

Americans, from the CEO to the janitor, the ditch digger to the Hollywood star, the least among us to the 10 percent who currently pick up the national tab, must unite upon fundamental American values and principles in order to conserve and preserve our greatness for future generations.

We will alter our voting habits and the government that results now, or we will soon have no option but to abolish it and start over.

It’s not just our right to alter or abolish a government which has become destructive of these principles and values, it is our obligation.

In a few months, Americans will make a decision. We will decide to either leap headlong into the socialist abyss with Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, or stem the tide by voting against those who seek political power via Democratic Socialism.

The choice is just this simple and just this serious. Study reality and make the choice carefully. We will alter the direction of our federal government today, or abolish it tomorrow.

This is indeed, freedom’s eleventh hour…

It also seems that he is aptly named, since he’s apparently on heavy medication, hence “wobbly” and perhaps even a nomad because he’s really a homeless, uneducated Liberal who feels that the world owes him something.

Well, the world doesn’t owe you jack-shit sonny.

You’re the sort of thing that the Military has fought to protect - your so-called “Freedom of Speech”.

Well, sonny, let me give you some facts. With freedom of speech comes responsibility and you’re going to have to, sooner or later, take responsibility for your actions. I personally have “flagged” your pathetic little bog as having objectionable material. I think I will make a few phone calls to some buddies in some of the various agencies around the country so this jerk can see what it’s really like to be “hounded by the Government” for a change….

A police officer in Hazelwood will have to pay $18,000 dollars for getting into it with a firefighter while he was trying to help an accident victim.

His attorney says he’s disappointed and that his client’s conduct was not malicious in any way.

Police dash cam video shows the Hazelwood police officer arresting a fire captain while he’s trying to move an injured driver.

It happened on Interstate 270 back in May of 2003.

Officer Todd Greeves wanted a fire truck moved to open up another lane of traffic.

The Robertson Fire Protection District Captain wanted the truck there to protect emergency workers.

Good morning “Cite”. Since you’re throwing around insults like “asshole”, I’ll try to be civil with you even though you don’t deserve it. First of all, you can’t spell, you don’t know how to correctly put together a sentence, nor do you understand sentence structure. Further, you don’t understand the ideal of “capitalism” — not the economic version, the version where you actually capitalize the first letter in your sentences.

Now, let me actually address your “concerns”.

1) Do I stand by my argument that ‘ordinary citizens’ should have access to guns? Yes, absolutely. Why? Because MORON it’s a RIGHT for us ‘ordinary citizens’ to have guns.

Last but not least, let me point something out to you regarding Illinois law.

The following information is about that state:

What is Unlawful Use of Weapons?
Section 24-1 of the Criminal Code of 1961:

“(a) a person commits the offense of unlawful use of weapons when he knowingly:

*** (4) Carries or possesses in any vehicle or concealed on or about his person except when on his land or in his abode or fixed place of business any pistol, revolver, stun gun, taser or other firearm.” 720 ILCS 5/24-1(a)(4)(West 1994).

Guess WHAT!? The guy that killed those people was ILLEGALLY CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPONS. He didn’t follow the law, imagine that. He didn’t have a “Firearms Owners Identification Card” which is required in that state to have and carry a weapon legally.

My point is, dumbass, is that it didn’t MATTER to him because he was a criminal, going to commit a crime and kill people, and had NO REASON TO FOLLOW THE LAW.

Law ABIDING citizens are the ONLY PEOPLE who would NOT HAVE WEAPONS in ANY CRIMINAL SITUATION if guns were BANNED.

Update: Well, I will always admit when I’m wrong about some. I was wrong to state that Kazmierczak didn’t have a Firearms Owners Identification Card. As it turns out, he DID have one. So he legally obtained his weapons. This, I assume is the problem with “Cite” though, because he feels that since ANYONE can get a gun ANYONE WILL commit these crimes.

This is where we differ. While this person was able to get a card, he ALSO “struggled with mental illness”… (http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/801681,021908daley.article) and certainly should not have been allowed to gain access to weapons. However, I’ll say that there is a law about this and therefore, if someone wants to BLAME someone for this - besides the killer, then blame the damned laws in Illinois for “over-regulation” and preventing EVERYONE from being able to own a gun.

Essentially, this murderer wasn’t denied guns because the LAW didn’t STOP him. If you’re going to create a law then it should work. If it doesn’t work, then get rid of the law. Give everyone the right to carry weapons without going through all the bullshit to get a valid ‘government authorization’ (which should NOT exist anyway) so they can defend themselves.

I’d advocate the following.

A party of Conservatives who take the GOP BACK - Honestly, America is a “Two Party System” and to drag everyone away from the GOP to form a third, independent party is not going to be easy, nor cheap, and it will be looked at as it has in the past with “Independents”. As a rag-tag organization of “extremists”.

Logically, we should be fighting within the Republican party to bring it back on course, and forcing these idiots who “want to find an ‘electable’ candidate’ or who think one or two things is TOO conservative to leave rather than the rest of us bail out.

In truth, no, there are things I have always disagreed with, within the GOP - and some things, on occasion to me are simply MORE conservative than I truly am myself.

HOWEVER, I HAVE and will CONTINUE to stand by the principles, in action and deed, even if I don’t necessarily agree completely with them. (No, I won’t give examples).

My “loyalty” to this country is without question. And it has rarely been questioned with the GOP since I changed parties many years ago (After I voted for Carter, I realized what a dumb mistake it was - I tried to stand up for him and believe I’d made the right decision, but increasingly he showed me I was stupid for voting for him).

I’m one of the True “Reaganites” that exists. I believed in everything Mr. Reagan stood for - and one of those things was to always stand on Principles in the face of adversity and to continue to show right from wrong, and do those things which are right, and NOT do, nor tolerate those who do WRONG.

In my mind, and in common sense, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and numerous others in the political structure of this country are simply WRONG and trying to do this country WRONG. While they certainly can and do believe in themselves - they refuse to understand that Socialism and Gun Control, and Abortion is NOT RIGHT, they won’t accept those things as wrong.

Until they DO, they need US to show them and fight them politically.

Until the day comes that our society actually falls apart, and we take up arms again as happened in the Civil War for individual’s rights we have to use our system as it works now.

That means fighting WITHIN the system, not with OUT it - and if we create a new party, we are no longer in the “main stream of society” - you become a group that is largely ignored by the media, called names (like fanatic, or Right Wing Kooks) or other things. A group that is seen by the rest of society in the poor light painted by a Leftist media has little chance of succeeding in anything they attempt.

No, while I can see the extreme frustration we’re all feeling (check my Tagline please for whom I believed was the best suited) I can’t completely agree that walking away from the Republican party is the right thing to do.

Instead, while they have tried to “walk away from US”, we need to stand in front of them and redirect the traffic, force those who are NOT Conservative Republicans to come back to the party the way it SHOULD be, not the way the Leftists in America want it to be.

We need to STOP compromising.

STOP working with “the other side”.

Block them at every turn.

Stop playing “Political Correctness Games”.

Tell the truth, and expose the lies.

Fight Socialism at every turn.

We need to fight for America, as a FREE REPUBLIC and we need to continue to be an example for the world… a place where every foreigner seems to want to come. (If America is such a damned bad place as the Left makes it out to be, then why do we actually have so many illegal aliens here again??????)

I made my decision on whom I shall vote.

It’s too bad Thompson didn’t stay in, because I’d be working to make him President. I don’t think he has a chance in hell even in a write-in campaign (which is being run as we speak by the way).

What I don’t get is how people can foist liberals on us and think because they have an R by their name, we’ll vote for them.

I look at it this way….

I’m 50 years old and I’ve voted in several Presidential races now, and I’ve been ALIVE for ten Presidents now. (Eisenhower through Bush). I had no influence on any of them save Reagan and the first Bush (because I knew them personally). I have little influence in the outcome of this election.

If I stay home on election day, the WORST possible thing can happen, Hillary Clinton will get elected as President.

Right now, I suspect that no matter HOW I vote, she’s going to get elected (because I think that our party has been INVADED by Liberals to destroy us… and they’ve done a good job). So, people want socialism in this country? They want Liberalism? They want this to lead to Communism?

Fine. Let them.

I’m armed. I’ll fight them when the time comes.

Free Republic Under Attack!!!!? : 502 Proxy Error

Free Republic site under attack?

This morning the site has been experiencing “502″ proxy errors. I thought it was because I was at work, behind a firewall.

But just before I was booted off the last time I saw a thread about “Jihadists attacking FreeRepublic”.

I read in the thread, through numerous errors that others were experiencing the same issues I was. Thus, I called the Technical Contact phone number located through “WHOIS” for FR and let them know something was up — or rather DOWN about the site.

They didn’t know, and promised to immediately look into the problem.

I’m not sure that it will help if there is a DDOS attack on-going right now. I suspect STRONGLY though that various machines are slamming FR hard this morning. I can get to many other sites, just not FR.

If you can get in there, post a message here. Here’s the error messages I’m seeing when trying to go to the web site.

You know, I’ve been pretty busy of late and haven’t been able to post, but in the past few days some nasty things have happened.

People are attacking Rush Limbaugh, even though the same idiots that started this smear campaign are indirectly responsible for the “General Betray Us” ad. Moveon.Org, George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Media Matters are all part of the same parcel of hypocritical, anti-freedom of speech people.

Now they are trying to force Limbaugh off the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network. And, look at the above link and what Michelle Malkin is reporting!

The MoveOn.org people are going after independent Tee-Shirt folks who are selling parody teeshirts abouve MoveOn.org.

It’s my learned opinion — and believe me as a former military member, I take extreme offense at MoveOn.Org’s hypocritical crap, Limbaugh said and did NOTHING wrong, and what’s worse, these people placed and AD against the good General doing a lot worse damage to someone than Rush ever did.

I think, and you can all take this however you like, that everyone who has the ability to create and sell Tee Shirts through some of the online “stores” ought to do just that. Make it so that MoveOn.Org hasn’t the time nor inclination to go after anyone, let alone a few.

Just my input on the “crap flinging”.

George Soros, you know, you’re a maggot. So are your liberal loonies, your lawyers and Hillary Clinton will not be elected BECAUSE of people like you.

You need to wake the hell up and understand that money isn’t what makes you powerful — but freedom of speech is what makes AMERICA powerful, and you’re trying to close it down using your money.

Free Republic Blocked at DOD sites

Just tried to get to FR from work. I’m at an undisclosed DOD installation. It’s been blocked via firewall rules from work.

How’s that for censorship? Remember, it’s only censorship if the government does it.

I do understand that there is something we’re concerned with called the “Insider threat”, but blocking news sources is dumb and ridiculous. Many of us are already “cut off” from the outside, or limited to viewing only CNN or perhaps FOX (we’re lucky enough to have FOX where I am, but that’s ALL).

Essentially, private email was cut off some months back, that is we can no longer go to earthlink, gmail, aol, or whatever from inside a DOD firewall. To some extent, I can see that, but blocking news sources is a blatant disregard for first amendment rights.

Certainly, one can find a new job if one doesn’t like the rules… but these rules are arbitrary and made up on the fly. I know, I’ve seen the results from inside.

This will likely be my only complaint at this point, and I will take it up internally, but, before they completely block the internet for good, I’m posting this here and now.

You folks out there… if they can make this decision to block certain sites from certain people (I promise you, the FBI and other non-DOD employees still have access to almost everything out there on the internet and DO abuse it) then it is censorship.

On the other hand, I don’t believe this is a good idea, and I’d sure like to see Jane’s sources for myself.
