North Korea’s Nuclear Threat

Kim Jong-Il says he’s “Sorry”… pardon me while I laugh my ass off. Ok, I’m better now. This morning a highly suspicious ship was launched from North Korea, Lil’ Kim is saying “Sorry” he ALSO said, “He also said Pyongyang would return to international nuclear talks if the United States backs off a campaign to financially isolate the country.”

IF? Come on Lil Kim.  Let’s chat. Come back to the table, pluulleeezzz? OMG, can we stop pussyfooting around with these guys today?

Actually, I’m sort of glad I’ve never really wanted to run for President, or be appointed as a Cabinet Member, because right now I can tell you one thing, I’d be pounding on the table in front of the other Cabinet members saying “What the hell are we doing sitting on our asses? Send in some nuclear pound ships to sit off the coast and wait.  When he get’s ‘stupid’ again, let him have it with all barrels.”

Fortunately, I suppose, I’m not in that particular position today.  But, there’s always next administration, assuming we make it that far.

North Korea sees these sanctions as an act of war. Yesterday, once again they said “We’re at war”.  The North warned it "wants peace but is not afraid of war" and that it would "deal merciless blows" against anyone who violates its sovereignty.

China appears to be pressuring North Korea, and of course this mornings little “apology” came on the heels of Condi Rice stepping foot on soil in Beijing.  (Side Note, I visited Beijing in around 1985, and it was… interesting. I spent a month in Chengdu, China, in the Sichuan province and worked for Vice President Bush there. Holy cow, *I never want to ever, ever go back to China.)

Kim was quoted as telling a Chinese envoy, "If the U.S. makes a concession to some degree, we will also make a concession to some degree, whether it be bilateral talks or six-party talks."  Sounds an awful lot like "blackmail" to me… I suppose that is the norm for this leader of people (and I use that term loosely!)

UPDATE: Fox News just reported, 10:25 MT on my computer that the ship being tracked appears to have "weapons of some sort".  In case we’re not up on this, several news agencies reported this morning that a ship leaving North Korea and being tracked by Japan, and apparently now the US Navy. This is a freighter, "suspicious" and currently I’m watching the news live.  The US Navy is apparently enroute and the Pentagon is not "wishing to escalate tensions".  At this point the ship is believed strongly to be carrying weapons, and we may "take down" that ship. (Greg Kelly, FOXNEWS, at the Pentagon reported most of what I just entered here).

UPDATE: Comment posted by Nathan Bradfield reminded me that I should have linked back to his site, in a trackback, and to be honest, I fully intended to do so but got excited about some things I was working on and actually didn’t FINISH the blog I started above — which is why I’ve been doing little updates.  Sorry Nathan :) and thanks for the kind reminder. –Rick

Nathan mentions some information which actually occurred to several of us recently, specifically Dhimmi Carter (I happen to LOVE that particular play on words, and I have zero love for Carter. I voted for the man when I was 18. Went in the military and found out what kind of a Commander-in-Chief he really was, and went Republican since the "Desert One" incident….).  Carter, I have NO doubt is involved in "talks" in the background to try to help the Liberals re-take the US Government from the rightful owners… the people.  Carter’s ridiculous attitude about Stalinist/Socialist regimes throughout the world, and the very fact he received a Nobel Peace Prize for — being an appeaser leads me to believe he is dead in the middle of this.
