Reality Check

For some reason, every time I hear that the European Union is "up to something" — I’m either not surprised, or I think "how ignorant can they be?"  Well, today, let’s link a few things together in a random blog entry starting with "Television without Frontiers (TVwF)" regulatory plan. (More here.)

In today’s news, the EU, is once again trying to do what the Left in America hasn’t been able to do as of yet, that is to shut down the Right.  This time, some weird law they have in the European Union called "Television without Borders" is attempting to go after Internet Video Bloggers (news article here). 

Essentially, what this sounds like to me is another way to regulate anything that someone, in this case specifically a government, wishes to regulate in a manner differently than it is already regulated.

Huh? What did you say Rick?  

Here’s the deal, in the United States, we have the Federal Communications Commission, a group with which I am very familiar.  I’m an Amateur Radio Operator, there are plenty of regulations out there that regulate me and the use of my radio systems.  The FCC already regulates television content in the US.  It also regulates anything going over the AIRWAVES.  That MEANS that if you have a video blog and someone decides to broadcast it over a television channel (with your permission of course, because you’ve already copyrighted your material, JUST BY PRODUCING IT) then you’re regulated there on the TV.  

The US Congress has tried unsuccessfully several times to pass laws “regulating content” on the internet, and they have successfully passed a few laws regarding pornography at this point in time.  The European Union has little sway directly over American Politics.  But it will have a sway over Leftists in this country who feel that “The Europeans are more civilized than us Americans”.  That brings us to the point of this little issue.

Freedom of Speech; the fact is, the more we have freedom of speech, and the more people wish to repress it.  The more it is repressed, the easier it is to inundate our children with ideas we ourselves are opposed to.  The more repressive laws are to such freedoms, the easier it is to take over repressed populations with more oppressive/repressive laws.  After all, if you’re not allowed to argue your point with logic and data, then your arguments are just illegal in the eyes of some and you become nothing more than a criminal.

Youtube recently was bought by Google for 1.6 BILLION US dollars.  Just as recently, Youtube worked to dissuade some people from posting their material, and flagged it as “inappropriate”, including of all people, Michelle Malkin’s video blogs.  Michelle is nothing short of a very good American, who just happens to be very “anti-Jihadist” – not unlike myself and millions of other Americans.  Thus, YouTube decided to mark her material as inappropriate, and yet left all the crap online showing US Soldiers being killed by snipers.  You know? My son is over there and if he is ever injured or killed and I find the video being placed online by YouTube, I won’t be suing anyone.  I will be waging my own little war against the person or persons responsible for posting the video, filming the video, taking the shots at my son.  I will be visiting the Middle East.  I WILL make sure I show up and visit some folks.

Think that is a threat? Yeah, it is.  Is the FBI gonna visit me? Let them. I mean what I say.  I’m not a violent guy, I don’t profess the overthrow of the US government, so the FBI hasn’t got a reason to bug me, and most likely they won’t. If they do, they are going to hear from a lawyer, and they will get an ear full from me.  They need to be out hunting these idiots from CAIR who believe terrorism is OK, not me saying that there are a bunch of "Jihadists out there wanting to kill Americans".  No, I won’t "shut up" and I "won’t go away".

These people who think Freedom of Speech is all about being able to say any damned thing you like with no consequences are wrong.  You are responsible for what you say, and I am responsible for what I just said. I meant it too.

My son is fighting in a war in a foreign country, against the OPPRESSORS of liberty, not to my country (yet) but to all Western Civilization in general.  These Jihadists who want to impose their beliefs on everyone (Islam), kill anyone who doesn’t listen to them (Islam) and in general cause problems for their own people (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia just to name a few) are the very same people who would say that I am “racist” or “hateful” and yet, they film Americans and Europeans, and some folks from the Far East having their throats cut and heads removed at the neck.  This IS NOT HATE SPEECH???? 

Who sets that standard anyway? Which person or persons decide what is and isn’t hate speech?  I want to meet that man or woman or group and let them know what hate speech really is.

So… we have the EU trying to set some rules that really won’t do anything but force companies out of their countries, and into some place that more tolerate—like oh, say America.  But, here in the US we have Senators and Congress Critters who LOVE to look at Europe and say, “Oh, how quaint, let us follow their example”, instead of what America does best which is LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

Ok, I say to EU, and everyone else. Cut the crap.  Stick to some values that are common sense.  Look at yourselves and tell yourselves you’re no better than anyone else, and you can not be making laws that will eventually affect ever FREE individual in the world.  Give yourselves a break and rejoin the real civilization, and do a Reality Check on yourselves.

Plan on hearing more from a lot more people just like me, if you decide to try to negate OUR freedom of speech, because I swear to you on my Mother’s Grave, I will continue to Defend MY country and MY constitution against all Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic and that damned well includes those who would try to take away my personal freedom of speech, especially those leftists out there who want me to “shut up and go away” and those Jihadists that threaten my very existence right now.

America will NOT go away, and people like myself will NOT LET it happen.

Got that EU? Got that Jihadists?  Got that, America’s LEFT?  We’re not going anywhere.
